The new rates, effective from May 1, are as follows:
- E-Plus 91: AED 2.39 per litre
- Special 95: AED 2.47 per litre
- Super 98: AED 2.58 per litre
- Diesel: AED 2.52 per litre
These prices will remain in effect throughout May and are part of the country’s monthly fuel price revision system, which aligns local rates with global oil market trends.
Price Changes Compared to April
The May prices show a marginal increase of AED 0.01 per litre for petrol grades, while diesel has seen a decrease of AED 0.11 per litre compared to April 2025.
This follows a trend of fluctuating prices in recent months, with notable decreases in both petrol and diesel rates in April.
Background on UAE Fuel Pricing
Since deregulating fuel prices in 2015, the UAE has revised rates monthly based on international crude oil prices, refining costs, and local operational expenses.
This system ensures that domestic prices reflect global market movements while accounting for local factors.
Impact on Consumers
For motorists, the slight increase means a minimal rise in fuel costs. For example, filling a 40-litre tank will now cost AED 0.40 more than in April, while a 120-litre tank will cost AED 1.20 more.
The next fuel price announcement is expected at the end of May, with industry analysts predicting a possible slight decrease for June based on current market trends. However, actual rates will be confirmed by the Fuel Price Committee at month’s end.
The UAE continues to offer a range of petrol options-E-Plus 91, Special 95, and Super 98-catering to different vehicle requirements and performance needs.
Diesel remains widely used across commercial and heavy-duty vehicles.
