What Is the Haramain High-Speed Railway?

Launched in 2018, the Haramain High-Speed Railway was designed to facilitate the movement of Hajj and Umrah pilgrims.

The train operates at speeds of up to 300 km/h, connecting Jeddah, Mecca, and Medina over a distance of 450 kilometers.

With up to 50 trips daily, this service is essential for swiftly transporting thousands during the Hajj pilgrimage.

Train Route and Key Stations

The railway covers a mainline track of 449.2 kilometers and includes a branch to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. Here are the five key stations along the route:

  1. Makkah Station: Located about 3.5 km from Masjid Al-Haram.
  2. Al-Sulimaniyah, Jeddah Station: Approximately 20 km from King Abdulaziz International Airport.
  3. King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) Station: Integrated within the airport terminal.
  4. King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) Station: Near the Hejaz Gate, 18 km from King Abdullah Port.
  5. Madinah Station: About 9 km from the city of Medina.
