How Much Is the Fine After Abu Dhabi Drops E311 Minimum Speed Limit?

Abu Dhabi Mobility has officially announced the removal of the 120 km/h minimum speed limit on Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Road (E311), a rule that had been in place since April 2023.
Previously, motorists driving in the first two lanes were required to maintain this speed or face a fine of Dh400.

The decision to eliminate the minimum speed requirement is part of broader efforts to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow, especially for heavy vehicles.
However, the maximum speed limit of 140 km/h remains in effect, and speed radars will continue to monitor and penalize violations.
Authorities advise motorists who prefer to drive at lower speeds to avoid the leftmost lanes, helping to ensure smoother and safer traffic movement across all lanes.
The policy change is also aimed at reducing tailgating—a dangerous driving behavior often linked to serious accidents—by allowing more flexibility in lane use and speed choice.
