At the auction, craftswoman Umm Meshaal shared her expertise with the Saudi Press Agency, explaining the production of sameel, a pouch made from animal hide used for storing ghee, yogurt, and water.
She noted that sheep skin is ideal for yogurt storage, while goat skin is preferred for ghee.

The crafting process begins with tanning the skins using tree extracts and salt to eliminate hair and impurities. Once dried, the hides are cut and sewn into the desired shape.
This ancient craft remains significant in modern Jouf, especially among Bedouin communities who rely on sameel for storing and transporting essential supplies.
Many believe that the finest ghee in the Kingdom is produced in these traditional vessels.
