UAE Achieves Top Global Ranking in Fiber-to-Home Coverage

The United Arab Emirates has set a new global benchmark in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network coverage, reaching an impressive 99.5%.
This achievement solidifies the UAE’s position as the top-ranked country in the world for FTTH coverage since 2016, according to the latest annual report from the FTTH Council Europe, based on data from 2024.

In this report, the UAE outperformed South Korea, which ranked second with 96.6%, and China, which came in third at 93.6%. Hong Kong followed closely in fifth place with 89.9%.
The telecommunications provider e& UAE plays a pivotal role in this success, boasting the highest fixed broadband penetration rate in the country.
With over 14.5 million kilometers of fiber-optic infrastructure—more than 360 times the Earth’s circumference—e& UAE delivers high-speed connectivity to over 2.88 million homes nationwide.
This initiative is part of the company’s “Fiber-First” strategy, aimed at enhancing the connectivity experience.
Masood M. Sharif Mahmood, CEO of e& UAE, remarked that this achievement reflects decades of dedication, beginning in 1986 with the introduction of fiber-optic technology in the UAE’s transport network.
Notably, Abu Dhabi became the first capital in the world to achieve complete fiber-optic coverage in 2011.
This milestone highlights e& UAE’s commitment to digital transformation and reinforces the UAE’s leadership in technology.
The company continues to expand its fiber-optic offerings, including innovative services like Fiber-to-the-Yacht (FTTY) for yachts and Fiber-to-the-Room (FTTR) for enhanced home connectivity.
These efforts align with the objectives of the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority to establish the UAE as a global connectivity hub.
