Official RTA taxis can be easily identified by their colored roofs—red, blue, green, yellow, orange, or pink—and must display the RTA logo.
Additionally, drivers should be in official uniforms and the taxis equipped with visible, controlled meters. Surveillance cameras are also installed in RTA taxis to ensure passenger safety.

Recent RTA inspections have led to the impounding of 225 vehicles involved in illegal transport operations. Violators face hefty fines, with corporate offenders liable for up to Dh50,000 and individuals up to Dh30,000.
Passengers are advised to use authorized taxi-hailing apps like S’hail and Careem, or to hail taxis from safe locations.
Standard fares include a base fare of Dh12 when booked through apps and Dh5 during the day for street hails. Increased charges may apply during peak times and special events.
As the RTA continues to crack down on illegal services, they emphasize the importance of safety for both residents and tourists navigating the city.
