The arrests were part of the Sharjah Police’s intensified campaign titled “Begging is a Crime, and Giving is a Responsibility.”
This initiative aims to curb begging, which often takes advantage of public generosity, and to promote responsible charitable giving through official channels.
Brigadier General Omar Al Ghazal, Director of the Special Tasks Department at Sharjah Police, emphasized the importance of community involvement in reporting begging incidents.
He urged residents to use the dedicated hotlines 901 and 80040 to report suspicious individuals.
Al Ghazal highlighted the need for public awareness regarding the deceptive tactics employed by beggars, stressing that charitable donations should be directed through licensed organizations to ensure they reach those in genuine need.
