  • Medical Examination: A medical examination must be passed, or an approved medical report submitted.
  • Driving Test: Applicants must successfully complete a driving test as defined by the law’s Executive Regulations.

  • Traffic Safety: Licenses can also be suspended to ensure overall traffic safety.

Severe Penalties for Violations

The law introduces stricter penalties for serious offenses, including:

  • Drunk Driving and Reckless Driving: Offenders can face fines up to Dh100,000 and potential jail time.
  • Driving Without a License: Heavy penalties await those driving without a valid license or with an unrecognized foreign license, ranging from fines to imprisonment.

Arrestable Offenses

The Traffic Control Authority has the power to arrest drivers for severe offenses, including causing death or injury, reckless driving, and failing to cooperate with police.
