Haramain Railway Offers Over 3,400 Trips and 1.6 Million Seats During Ramadan

As the holy month of Ramadan unfolds, the Haramain High-Speed Railway is stepping up to meet the surge in travel demand with remarkable efficiency.

Operating over 3,400 trips and providing more than 1.6 million seats, this railway service is crucial for Umrah pilgrims and visitors journeying between the holy cities of Makkah and Madinah, as well as Jeddah.

A Solution to Road Congestion

The Haramain Railway has significantly eased road congestion, making travel smoother for thousands of pilgrims.

With trains traveling at speeds of 300 km/h, this modern transport system offers a swift two-hour and 20-minute journey between Makkah and Madinah.

The service not only enhances convenience but also ensures a safe and efficient travel experience.

Advanced Infrastructure

Inaugurated in 2018, the Haramain High-Speed Railway is among the fastest electric railways globally. It features five key stations in Makkah, Madinah, and Jeddah, including the King Abdulaziz Airport station, which is the world’s largest airport-linked railway station.

This station, covering over 105,000 square meters, is equipped with six train platforms, facilitating seamless passenger movement and reducing road congestion around the airport.

Comprehensive Passenger Services

The railway operates 35 electric trains, each boasting 417 seats across 13 cars that include both business and economy class options.

Passengers can enjoy amenities such as entertainment screens, accessibility features, and a cafeteria. Business class travelers receive premium hospitality, while economy class customers benefit from food carts available throughout their journey.

Haramain train stations offer a multitude of services, from police and fire stations to health centers, retail outlets, restaurants, and cafes.

Additional conveniences include a pharmacy, business class lounge, parking, car rentals, and ticketing services, ensuring that every traveler’s needs are catered to.
