The technology will capture and analyze biometric data during check-in, with data securely encrypted and transmitted to a centralized database managed by the Department of Culture and Tourism (DCT) in collaboration with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP).

The initiative adheres to UAE cybersecurity and data privacy regulations. The first phase will launch in five-star hotels, followed by a second phase targeting four-star hotels, and eventually expanding to all hotel categories.

The pilot phase is already underway in select hotels across the emirate.

DCT Abu Dhabi is working closely with hotel partners to ensure a smooth rollout, providing technical support and training.

This move comes as Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector experiences significant growth, welcoming 1.4 million overnight visitors in the first quarter of 2025 and generating revenue of Dh2.3 billion, an 18% increase compared to the previous year.

With its reputation as one of the safest cities in the world, the implementation of this technology will further enhance Abu Dhabi’s position as a leading destination for tourism.

Saleh Mohamed Al Geziry, Director-General for Tourism at DCT Abu Dhabi, emphasized the commitment to innovation while maintaining high safety standards for guests and hospitality staff.
