What is the Iqama?
The Iqama, also known as the Muqeem ID, is a vital document for expatriates and foreign workers in Saudi Arabia.

The Shift to Digital Iqama
In 2023, the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) announced that residents could now use a digital version of their Iqama if it had been recently renewed.

How to Obtain Your Digital Iqama
Via the Absher App
- Download the Absher App: Available for Apple, Android, and Huawei devices.
- Log In: Enter your Absher user ID and password. If you don’t have an account yet, follow the instructions on the app to set one up.
- Access My Services: Tap on ‘My Services’ at the bottom of the screen.
- Activate Digital ID: You’ll see an option to ‘Activate Digital ID’. Tap on it to view the basic details of your resident ID.
- Generate QR Code: Scroll down and select ‘Activate Digital ID’ to receive a QR code. This code can be scanned by officials when required.
Through the Absher Website
- Visit Absher: Go to absher.sa.
- Log In: Use your username and password, and verify your identity with a code sent to your registered mobile number.
- View Digital Documents: Click on the menu next to your profile picture and select ‘View Digital Documents’.
- Access Your Iqama: Here, you’ll find your digital copy of the resident ID, which you can save directly to your phone.
