A Strategic Milestone
Awad Alsulami, Executive Vice President for Economic Policies & Logistics Services at GACA, called the decision “a milestone in enhancing the general aviation market in Saudi Arabia.”
“Authorizing VistaJet as the first international private jet operator for domestic operations in the Kingdom will foster greater competition, stimulate sector growth, and raise the quality of services for private aviation customers in the Kingdom and across the region,” he said.
Beyond Luxury Travel
While private jets are often associated with elite travelers, GACA emphasized that this reform is not just about luxury flyers. By opening the market to global players like VistaJet, Saudi Arabia hopes to:
- Boost private aviation traffic
- Attract foreign investment
- Strengthen high-value tourism
- Support the Kingdom’s wider aviation and economic diversification agenda
First-Mover Advantage
VistaJet now holds the first-mover advantage in what is set to become one of the Middle East’s most competitive aviation markets. Analysts say the operator’s early entry could position it strongly as Saudi Arabia scales up its aviation ambitions.
