Saudi Arabia Bans Iftar Meal Promotions at Two Holy Mosques

Saudi Arabia has implemented a ban on advertising and promotional activities associated with the distribution of iftar meals at the Grand Mosque in Mecca and the Prophet’s Mosque in Medina. Permit Requirements

• Eligibility: Organizations and individuals wishing to provide iftar meals must be legally registered with relevant authorities.

Regulations for Permit Holders

• Designated Areas: Permit holders must adhere to specified distribution locations within the mosques.
• Public Hygiene: Strict maintenance of public hygiene is mandated.

Permit Management

• Non-Transferable: Permits cannot be transferred to other individuals or organizations.
• Approved Meals Only: Only meals that have received prior approval may be distributed.

Penalties for Violations

• First Offense: A written warning will be issued.
• Repeated Violations: Subsequent offenses will result in the revocation of the permit and disqualification from participating in meal distribution for the remainder of Ramadan.

These measures are aimed at ensuring the sanctity and orderliness of the holy sites during the observance of Ramadan, enhancing the worship experience for all pilgrims and visitors.
