Dubai Police have issued guidelines to help residents recognize and avoid these fraudulent offers. Common tactics used by scammers include using fake company names, creating convincing websites, and impersonating legitimate Dubai businesses.
Once trust is established, they may request fees for visa processing, training, or background checks—only for the job offer to disappear along with the victim’s money.
To protect yourself, Dubai Police recommend the following steps:
- Never Pay Fees: Genuine employers do not ask for upfront money for job applications or processing.
- Verify Company Details: Always check the company’s official website or contact them directly.
- Be Cautious with Communication: Legitimate companies use official channels, not free messaging services.
- Trust Your Instincts: If something seems off, investigate further before sharing personal information.
If you suspect a job offer is fake, collect evidence such as messages and emails, and report the scam to Dubai Police’s eCrime Division via their website (ecrime.ae) or app.
For added security, job seekers should ensure that any job offer includes an official letter from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), which can be verified at the UAE embassy in their home country.
To check a company’s legitimacy, you can use the National Economic Register (NER) to confirm if a business is registered and licensed in the UAE.
By staying vigilant and following these steps, residents can better protect themselves from falling victim to job scams in Dubai.
