Riyadh Launches Non-Paid Managed Parking in Residential Neighborhoods

The Riyadh Parking Project has initiated the first phase of its non-paid managed parking initiative in residential neighborhoods.
This effort is part of a broader plan to organize public vehicle parking and address issues such as the overflow of cars from commercial areas into nearby housing districts.

Objectives of the Initiative
- Enhance Parking Efficiency: Improve the management of parking spaces and reduce unauthorized vehicle use in residential areas.
- Improve Urban Experience: Create a more organized and pleasant environment for residents.
Key Features
- Digital Residential Parking Permits: Residents and their guests can obtain parking permits through the Riyadh Parking mobile app.
- Link to Nafath Platform: The app is integrated with the national Nafath platform for secure registration and access.
- Initial Rollout Area: The program begins in the Al-Wurud neighborhood, with plans to expand to additional areas near commercial streets.

Advanced Monitoring Technology
The project employs advanced technology, including:
- Smart Patrol Vehicles: Equipped with Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) cameras to monitor parking violations in both commercial zones and surrounding neighborhoods.
Scale of the Project
Launched in August 2024, the Riyadh Parking Project is among the largest smart parking initiatives globally, aiming to:
- Regulate over 140,000 non-paid residential parking spaces.
- Manage 24,000 paid spots in commercial districts.
Phase One Coverage
Phase one includes 12 zones in neighborhoods such as:
- Al-Wurud
- Al-Rahmaniyah
- West Olaya
- Al-Muruj
- King Fahd
- Al-Sulaimaniah
This initiative reflects Riyadh’s commitment to enhancing urban infrastructure and improving the quality of life for its residents.
