Southern Saudi Arabia experienced scattered rains and intense thunderstorms on Friday, leading to hail, flash floods, and a sudden drop in temperatures across several regions, including Al Baha and Abha.

Al Baha Region
- Moderate to Light Showers: The rainfall covered the city and outlying governorates such as Al Aqiq, Baljurashi, Bani Hasan, and Al Qura.
- Revitalized Landscape: The rain drenched parks and valleys, causing several ravines and dry riverbeds to overflow, transforming the arid landscape.
Abha
- Hail and Temperature Drop: Residents were surprised by hail and a temperature decrease to 18°C, the lowest recorded in the Kingdom during one of the hottest months of the year. Local media remarked, “Abha flipped the script,” as videos emerged showing torrents of water coursing through the streets and ice pellets covering mountain roads.

Alerts and Warnings
- The National Center for Meteorology raised its alert level to “advanced warning” in parts of Al Baha and Taif, cautioning about:
- Heavy downpours
- Severe wind gusts
- Poor visibility
- Dangerous lightning activity
Taif Red Alert
- A red alert was activated in Taif due to reports of intense thunderstorms and hazardous conditions, prompting emergency services to remain on standby.
