A study from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) revealed that participants using Large Language Models (LLM) exhibited less brain engagement over time, often resorting to copy-and-paste methods.
This trend suggests that consistent use of AI could weaken cognitive abilities essential for effective problem-solving and creativity.
Sara Sabin, a leadership coach, emphasized the need for active brain training to maintain critical skills like intuition and emotional intelligence.
Similarly, Lisa Lyons from Mercer noted that as technology becomes integral to work processes, skills in advanced data analysis and creative problem-solving will become crucial.
Jason Grundy, managing director of Robert Walters Middle East & Africa, echoed these sentiments, stating that AI should complement existing knowledge rather than replace it.
He warned that over-reliance on technology could erode professionals’ critical thinking abilities and essential skills.
Experts recommend a balanced approach to AI integration, ensuring that employees continue to develop their cognitive abilities while leveraging technology to enhance performance.
