Bangladesh: Air Force Jet Crash at College Leaves 27 Dead

In a tragic incident in Dhaka, Bangladesh, at least 27 people were killed when a Bangladesh Air Force training jet crashed into the Milestone School and College campus.
The accident, which occurred on July 21, 2025, resulted in the hospitalization of 88 others, including many children.

The Chinese-made F-7 BGI aircraft, which was on a routine training mission, reportedly encountered mechanical failure shortly after takeoff.
Eyewitnesses described a loud explosion followed by flames and smoke rising from the crash site. Rescue operations were quickly initiated, with firefighters and army personnel working to clear the wreckage and transport the injured to nearby hospitals.
Most of the victims were students who had just been dismissed from classes. The head of the burn unit at Dhaka Medical College reported that many of the injured were aged between eight and 14.
The incident has been labeled the deadliest aviation accident in Bangladesh in decades.
Following the crash, Bangladesh’s interim government announced a day of national mourning. Prime Minister Muhammad Yunus expressed profound grief over the loss and emphasized the need for a thorough investigation into the causes of the accident.
This catastrophic event marks a significant tragedy for the nation, drawing condolences from international leaders, including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who offered support in the wake of the disaster.
