Sheikh Ali Hudhaify: Imams of the Haramain Series

Sheikh Ali bin Abdul Rahman Al Hudhaify is one of the most respected religious figures in the Islamic world. He is the Imam and Khateeb (Friday sermon giver) at Masjid An-Nabawi, the Prophet’s Mosque, in Madinah.

He was born in 1366 AH in a village called Al-Qarn Al-Mustaqeem, located in the southern region near Makkah. Coming from a religious family, his father served as an Imam in the army. Sheikh Hudhaify began his early education by learning the Holy Qur’an from local scholars, especially under the guidance of Sheikh Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Hudhaify.

In 1381 AH, he joined a private Salafi school in Baljurashi. Two years later, he entered the Institute of Knowledge in the same area and completed his secondary education in 1388 AH.

He then studied Islamic law (Sharia) at the Islamic University of Imam Muhammad bin Saud in Riyadh and graduated in 1392 AH. After graduation, he became a teacher at an institute in Baljurashi, where he taught Qur’an interpretation, monotheism, Arabic grammar, and calligraphy. He also served as an Imam in a local mosque.

In 1395 AH, he earned a Master’s Degree from Al-Azhar University in Egypt, followed by a Doctorate in Islamic Law and Policy. Starting in 1397 AH, he worked as a professor at the Islamic University in Madinah, teaching subjects such as monotheism and Islamic law.

Sheikh Hudhaify also taught in the College of Hadith, College of Da’wah, the College of the Qur’an, and the postgraduate school. He became known for his powerful and clear recitation of the Qur’an, which has been broadcast on radio stations around the world.

He holds special certifications (Ijaazah) in different styles of Qur’an recitation from well-known scholars, including Sheikh Ahmad Abdul Aziz Al-Ziyaat, Sheikh Aamir Al-Sayeed Usman, Sheikh Abdul Fatah Al-Qadi, and Sheikh Hammad Al-Ansari.

Throughout his career, Sheikh Hudhaify has held several important positions. He was the Imam of Masjid Quba from 1399 to 1401 AH and briefly served as the Imam of Masjid Al-Haram in Makkah in 1401 AH. Since 1402 AH, he has been serving as the Imam of the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah.

In addition to leading prayers, he plays a key role in preserving and promoting the Qur’an. He chairs the Committee for the Revision of the Holy Qur’an in Madinah and is a member of the King Fahd Complex for Printing the Holy Qur’an.

Sheikh Ali Hudhaify’s lifelong dedication to teaching, reciting, and preserving the Qur’an has made him a beloved figure in the Muslim world.
