Saudi Authority Shuts Down Two Warehouses for Repackaging Expired Children’s Food

The Ministry of Commerce has taken decisive action against two illegal warehouses in Riyadh, shutting them down for repackaging and relabeling expired children’s food products. Over 8 tons of spoiled goods, prepared for redistribution with forged expiry dates, were seized.

Details of the Operation
- Location: The warehouses were located in the Aziziyah and Khalidiyah districts in southern Riyadh.
- Coordination: The operation was carried out by the ministry’s inspection teams in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development and the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA).

Confiscated Items
Among the seized products were:
- Nuts
- Legumes
- Candies
- Ground coffee
Authorities also confiscated stickers with falsified expiry dates and rubber stamps used in the fraudulent activities.
Legal Action
The individuals responsible have been detained, and legal action is underway. All seized items are scheduled for destruction.
Penalties for Violators
Violators face severe penalties under the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, which may include:
- Up to three years in prison
- Fines of up to SR1 million
- Public disclosure of their names
- Deportation of non-Saudi workers involved
