The improvements were implemented at nine bus stations in Deira and seven in Bur Dubai, serving a combined 110 bus routes with a peak capacity of approximately 710 buses.
Additionally, six major bus depots in Al Khawaneej, Al Qusais, Al Ruwayah, Al Awir, Jebel Ali, and Al Quoz have undergone extensive renovations, including the installation of dedicated lanes for vehicle inspection and maintenance.
RTA also focused on improving driver accommodations, lighting, drainage systems, and redesigning bus parking areas for greater efficiency.
“This project aligns with RTA’s commitment to enhance public transport infrastructure and encourage residents to utilize mass transit for their daily commuting,” stated Mattar Al Tayer, RTA’s Director General.
As part of ongoing efforts to modernize its fleet, Dubai is set to receive 637 new public buses compliant with European “Euro 6” low-emission standards, including 40 fully electric buses, marking a significant step towards sustainable public transport in the region.
