Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, emphasized that this achievement reflects the emirate’s ambition to become a global hub for innovation.
He noted that the air taxi service will enhance quality of life by shortening travel times, with a journey from Dubai International Airport to Palm Jumeirah expected to take just 12 minutes.
Mattar Al Tayer, director-general of Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, highlighted that the aerial taxi will provide a premium travel option, integrating seamlessly with existing public transport systems.

The service aims to launch in the first half of 2026, with passengers able to book flights via the Joby app.
Didier Papadopoulos, President of Aircraft OEM at Joby Aviation, stated that the aircraft is 100 times quieter than traditional helicopters and designed for quick turnaround times, with charging capabilities of just 8 to 10 minutes.
Joby plans to initiate operations with multiple aircraft and is in discussions to expand services across the UAE.
