The case centered around the illegal exploitation of residence visas. The accused set up fake companies to recruit workers but abruptly closed these businesses without regularizing the workers’ legal status.
The Public Prosecution initiated an investigation after these suspicious activities were flagged by the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA).
Following thorough monitoring and inspections, it was discovered that the companies were non-existent and were created solely for the purpose of obtaining residence visas illegally.
The investigation revealed that 33 commercial establishments were used as fronts to misuse 385 residency visas, often using fake addresses.
Dr. Ali Humaid bin Khatem, Senior Advocate General and Head of the Citizenship and Residency Prosecution, emphasized the commitment to ensuring compliance with residency and labor laws to maintain societal stability and a healthy labor market.
