- Annual Capacity: Designed to accommodate 1 million visitors (equating to 2 million passenger movements).
- Partial Operations: Started receiving international passengers in April 2024 with bi-weekly flights from Dubai.
Efficient Passenger Processing
- Quick Turnaround: Passengers will be able to exit the airport in under six minutes post-landing, leveraging advanced technology.
- Smart Baggage Management: Luggage will be automatically processed and delivered directly to resorts, eliminating traditional baggage reclaim hassles.

Innovative Passenger Pods
- The airport features five distinct “pods” for integrated security, immigration, and customs services. This decentralized setup allows passengers to proceed directly to their gates after clearance, minimizing walking and wait times.
Future-Ready Infrastructure
- Runway Capacity: RSI boasts a 3,700-meter runway capable of handling large aircraft, including the Airbus A380, ensuring future capacity for wide-body operations.
Air Transportation Innovations
Air Taxi Operations
- An Air Taxi Terminal (ATT) is already operational, primarily serving seaplane and general aviation traffic since September 2023. The main terminal is set to launch by Q2 2025.
Seaplane Services
- Fly Red Sea: A seaplane service using hybrid Cessna Caravan aircraft allows seamless transfers from the airport to luxury resorts and islands. This service is exclusively fueled by Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), emphasizing environmental responsibility.
Future Technologies
- Plans are in place to explore eVTOLs (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft) as technology advances, reflecting RSI’s commitment to innovative and sustainable transportation solutions.
Airline Partnerships and Connectivity
- Current Airlines: Saudia, flydubai, and flynas are already operating at RSI. Discussions with over 60 airlines are underway to enhance connectivity, including potential direct flights to major European hubs.
