Bahrain Shifts 70% of Government Staff to Remote Work for Security Reasons

In a strategic move to safeguard public health while maintaining uninterrupted government services, Bahrain’s Civil Service Bureau has announced a major shift to remote work across government ministries and agencies.

Effective immediately and until further notice, 70% of government employees will work from home. The remaining 30% will continue to operate from their offices to ensure the smooth delivery of essential functions. This directive excludes vital sectors that require on-site presence, including emergency and frontline services, which will continue under special operational protocols.
The decision reflects ongoing efforts to promote workplace safety during a period of heightened caution. By reducing the number of employees physically present in government facilities, the Bureau aims to curb potential health risks while ensuring continuity in public service delivery.
Officials emphasized that remote work systems are fully equipped to handle the transition, enabling employees to perform their duties efficiently while adhering to precautionary measures.
