Qatar Steps Up Enforcement Against Illegal Wildlife Trade in Bid to Safeguard Biodiversity!

In a firm demonstration of its commitment to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MECC) has launched a targeted crackdown on illegal wildlife trade across Qatar.
The initiative, led by the MECC’s Wildlife Development Department, involves comprehensive inspections of establishments engaged in the sale or display of wild animals and plants.

The campaign is designed to ensure strict adherence to both national regulations and international conventions, such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), to which Qatar is a signatory.
Inspectors are scrutinizing the legality of permits held by businesses dealing with wildlife, assessing whether operations are compliant with licensing requirements and environmental standards.
