Key Features of the New Service

Remote Activation

  • Biometric Verification: Pilgrims can request and activate eSIMs using a biometric verification process via the government’s Absher platform.
  • Partnership Initiative: This service is part of a collaborative effort by the Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), the Ministry of Interior, and licensed telecom operators.

  • The initiative aims to facilitate seamless communication for visitors as soon as they arrive in the Kingdom, especially during the busy Hajj and Umrah seasons.

Current Pilgrim Arrivals

  • As of now, nearly 666,000 overseas pilgrims have arrived in Saudi Arabia for the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage, with the latest figures showing 665,722 arrivals last Tuesday.
  • The Ministry of Hajj reports that operations for welcoming pilgrims are proceeding smoothly due to effective cooperation among relevant agencies. The number of pilgrims is expected to peak in the coming days.

Last Year’s Statistics

  • Approximately 1.8 million Muslims from both inside and outside the Kingdom performed Hajj last year, fulfilling this essential Islamic duty.
