UAE Set to Begin Trials for First Flying Taxis in Al Ain This Summer

The UAE is set to launch trials for its first flying taxis in Al Ain, with the testing phase scheduled to begin in the third quarter of this year.

Adam Goldstein, CEO of Archer Aviation, confirmed that the company has been collaborating with the UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) to establish a regulatory framework for this innovative transportation solution.

Goldstein shared the news during the Make it in the Emirates exhibition at the Adnec Centre in Abu Dhabi.

The trials will involve remote operations before expanding to full service, aiming for a launch in Abu Dhabi by the end of the year.

The flying taxis, designed to significantly reduce travel time between Dubai and Abu Dhabi from 2-3 hours to just 15-20 minutes, will be available for booking through Archer’s app.

The fare is expected to be comparable to high-end rideshare services.

Archer is also set to start assembling these flying taxis in the UAE later this year, with long-term plans to manufacture locally and create jobs in the region.

This initiative aligns with Abu Dhabi’s vision to foster an innovative aviation industry.
