What to Declare at Dubai Airport and Customs Duty Exemptions?

Passengers traveling to and from the UAE are reminded of the strict customs regulations regarding the declaration of cash and valuables.
Anyone carrying cash or valuables exceeding Dh60,000 (or its equivalent in other currencies) must declare these items to customs authorities upon arrival or departure.

The customs process starts right after passport control and includes inspections of belongings. Failure to declare the required amounts can lead to confiscation of undeclared items.
Certain items are exempt from customs duties, including:
- Gifts valued up to Dh3,000
- Tobacco products (200 cigarettes, 50 cigars, or 500 grams of tobacco)
- Alcoholic beverages (up to 4 liters or 2 cartons of beer)
- Electronic smoking devices for personal use.
Passengers under 18 must have their cash declared by an adult. Duty exemptions apply only if the items are for personal use and not for commercial purposes.
Frequent travelers and crew members are subject to different regulations.
For more information, travelers can utilize the ‘iDeclare’ mobile app to assist in the declaration process.
