Saudi Arabia Arrests 18,669 Individuals in a Week

In a significant enforcement operation, Saudi security authorities have arrested 18,669 individuals for violating residency, border security, and labor laws within just one week.

This crackdown, which took place between April 3 and April 9, 2025, involved coordinated efforts from various government agencies and security forces.

Breakdown of Arrests

Among those apprehended, 11,813 were found in violation of the Residency Law. Additionally, 4,366 individuals were arrested for breaching the Border Security Law, and 2,490 were identified as violators of the Labor Law.

The operation also targeted those attempting to illegally cross the border into the Kingdom, leading to the arrest of 1,497 individuals.

Notably, 27% of these were Yemeni nationals, while 69% were from Ethiopia, with the remaining 4% comprising other nationalities.

The authorities further reported that 59 people were apprehended while attempting to leave the Kingdom illegally.

Measures Taken

In response to this wave of arrests, a total of 25,754 violators were referred to their diplomatic missions to obtain the necessary travel documents. Additionally, 2,279 individuals were directed to finalize their travel arrangements, and 8,126 were deported from the Kingdom.

The operation also led to the arrest of 17 individuals involved in facilitating transportation, shelter, or employment for these violators.

Legal Consequences

The Ministry of Interior has issued a stern warning regarding the facilitation of illegal entry into the Kingdom.

Individuals found guilty of assisting illegal entrants—whether through transportation, shelter, or other means—could face severe penalties, including up to 15 years in prison and fines reaching SR1 million.

In such cases, vehicles used for transportation or properties providing shelter will also be confiscated.

Public Cooperation

To bolster these efforts, the Ministry has encouraged the public to report any suspected violations.
