Eid Al Fitr Travel: UAE Airfares to Stay High Until August

DUBAI: UAE residents planning to travel during Eid Al Fitr, Spring Break, or summer holidays should book their tickets soon, as airfares to popular destinations like India, the UK, the US, and Europe have surged by 30-50% this year.
This price hike is driven by the overlap of Eid and school vacations, limited airline capacity, and ongoing global aircraft delivery delays.

Rikant Pitti, CEO of EaseMyTrip, noted that the rare overlap of holiday periods has intensified travel demand, leading to steeper fare increases.
While business travel has slowed during Ramadan, it is expected to regain momentum soon, further impacting prices.

Airlines are responding by increasing capacity and introducing new routes to help alleviate rising costs. For example, economy fares to New York are currently between Dh6,850 and Dh8,850 but are expected to drop to around Dh3,030 in September.
Similarly, flights to London may decrease from Dh4,500 to approximately Dh2,260. Despite these adjustments, global aircraft delivery delays continue to affect airline expansion plans.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) reports a backlog of around 17,000 aircraft orders, which could take nearly 14 years to clear at current delivery rates.
Looking ahead, airfare trends suggest continued price pressures, with a projected increase of 2-14% in 2025 due to rising fuel costs and inflation.
However, corporate travelers are finding innovative ways to manage expenses, as popular destinations for business-leisure trips remain in high demand.
