This marks a return to one of the most beloved venues in the sport. The agreement to host the final round was signed by Mr. Salah bin Ibrahim Al-Mannai, Vice-President of DMSC, and Raimondo di San Germano, CEO of Aquabike Promotion.
During the signing ceremony, Al-Mannai expressed enthusiasm about the upcoming event:
“We are thrilled to host the final round of the World Championship in Qatar. Aquabike Promotion has a distinguished history of organizing such events, and we look forward to welcoming competitors from around the globe.”

Raimondo di San Germano echoed this sentiment:
“We are excited to return to Qatar after a ten-year hiatus, to what was once one of the most popular stops on the World Championship circuit.
We experienced fantastic racing and warm hospitality during our previous Grand Prix events here, and we anticipate continuing that tradition with our new partnership with the Doha Marine Sports Club.
Our gratitude goes to Khalifa bin Mohammed Al-Suwaidi and Salah bin Ibrahim Al-Mannai for their support in making this venture a reality.”
Between March 2011 and March 2015, the former Qatar Marine Sports Federation (QMSF) hosted rounds of the aquabike series on Doha Bay. The QMSF, along with H2O Racing, also organized events for the UIM F1H2O World Championship during the same period.
Notably, Qatar’s Thamer Al-Darwish secured a thrilling victory in the Runabout GP1 category at the last Grand Prix held in 2015.
In the Ski Division GP1, Spain’s Nacho Armillas triumphed over the French competitors Jérémy Poret and Alex Barret, while fellow Spaniard Sandra Fernandez Hernandez topped the Ski Ladies GP1 standings.
The 2015 Grand Prix occurred during an era dominated by the Slovenian Florjancic brothers in the Freestyle category, with Nac narrowly defeating his brother Rok for the Grand Prix title at what was then the opening round of the World Championship.
