Dubai Launches ‘United in Giving’ Initiative to Celebrate Ramadan

Dubai has officially launched the ‘United in Giving’ initiative, aimed at distributing seven million meals to those in need throughout Ramadan.
Announced by the UAE Food Bank under the guidance of Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the initiative seeks to promote sustainable food management, reduce waste, and encourage community involvement in charitable efforts.

The initiative includes three main components:
- Blessing Baskets – Aims to provide over 200,000 meals daily through food donations and surplus meals.
- Zabeel Iftar – Offers Iftar meals to more than 3,000 workers, recognizing their contributions to the community.
- Surplus of Good – Focuses on educating the public about sustainable methods to repurpose surplus food.
Eng Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Vice Chairman of the UAE Food Bank, emphasized the initiative’s alignment with the UAE’s values of generosity and compassion, calling for participation from individuals, institutions, and philanthropists to help improve the lives of many.
The initiative also includes a program to raise awareness about food sustainability, featuring educational content in multiple languages.
This effort supports the UAE Food Bank’s strategic goals for 2023-2027, aimed at minimizing food waste and enhancing humanitarian efforts in the region.
