This surge reflects the kingdom’s ongoing efforts to boost its tourism industry.

According to a report from the Saudi Ministry of Tourism, approximately 8,350 permits have been granted for private hospitality facilities, marking a significant milestone in the kingdom’s hospitality landscape.

However, the ministry also noted that 1,452 complaints were filed against some of these establishments during the same period.

Operating without a proper license has emerged as a prominent violation, with fines reaching up to SR1 million for non-compliance.

Authorities are taking this issue seriously, with potential penalties including business shutdowns and public shaming of offenders.

Saudi Arabia is actively working to attract more foreign tourists through various initiatives. These include the introduction of tourist visas that can be obtained on arrival or online for citizens from several countries, as well as a four-day transit visa specifically for those wishing to perform Umrah or visit key religious sites.

The kingdom’s appeal to tourists has significantly increased, with over 100 million visitors recorded in 2023, including 27.4 million international tourists—a 65% rise from 2022. As part of its ambitious goal, Saudi Arabia aims to become one of the top 10 tourist destinations globally, targeting 150 million annual visitors by 2030.

With these developments, the private hospitality sector in Saudi Arabia is set for unprecedented growth, making it an exciting time for both investors and travelers alike.
