Digital Iqama in 2023
In 2023, the General Directorate of Passports (Jawazat) clarified that you can carry a digital Iqama on your smartphone instead of the physical card, provided your Iqama has been renewed recently.
This allows for greater convenience for expatriates and their dependents.

How to Get Your Digital Iqama
You can obtain a digital copy of your Iqama through the Absher platform, either via the mobile app or the website.
Through the Absher App
- Download the Absher App: Available for Apple, Android, and Huawei devices.
- Log In: Enter your Absher user ID and password. If you don’t have an account, check the Absher website for setup instructions.
- Access My Services: Tap on ‘My Services’ at the bottom of the screen.
- Activate Digital ID: Look for the ‘Activate Digital ID’ option.
- Generate QR Code: After reviewing your resident ID details, tap ‘Activate Digital ID’. This will provide you with a QR code.
- Usage: This QR code can be scanned by officials to access your resident ID when needed.
Through the Absher Website
- Visit the Absher Website: Go to absher.sa.
- Log In: Use your username and password.
- Verification Code: You will receive a verification code on your registered mobile number.
- View Digital Documents: Click on the menu option next to your profile picture and select ‘View Digital Documents’.
- Access Your Iqama: You will see the option for your resident ID or Iqama, with a digital copy available to save on your phone.
