Emergency teams responded swiftly, managing to evacuate 148 residents. However, six individuals were hospitalized, primarily for smoke inhalation and minor injuries.
Eyewitnesses reported that the victims attempted to escape using ropes and scaffolding set up for maintenance work, but tragically fell to their deaths.
Residents noted that no fire alarm was heard during the incident, with many discovering the fire only by seeing smoke in the corridors.

One resident described the scene, stating, “We saw an African man lying motionless on the ground. He had jumped from the top of the building and died instantly.”
The fire is believed to have started on the 42nd floor, which remains sealed off as investigations continue. Authorities have emphasized the importance of functional fire alarm systems and regular safety checks in residential buildings.
By the evening, residents were gradually allowed to return to their apartments, although access to higher floors would be restricted until safety inspections were completed.
The Sharjah Social Services Department provided immediate assistance to those affected, including food and temporary accommodations for families unable to return home.
