Qatar Announces Grace Period for Residency Permit Violators

Doha, February 8, 2025 — The Ministry of Interior (MoI) in Qatar has unveiled a significant initiative aimed at assisting expatriates who have violated residency laws.
Starting February 9, a three-month grace period will be in effect for individuals who have overstayed their residency permits or breached provisions of Law No. (21) of 2015, which governs the entry, exit, and residence of expatriates.

This grace period seeks to facilitate the orderly departure of violators from the country. According to a statement from the MoI, affected individuals can either proceed directly to Hamad International Airport for their departure or visit the Search and Follow-up Department located on Salwa Road.
The department will be available on official working days from 1 PM to 9 PM to assist with the necessary departure procedures.
