Qatar Is Expected to Draw Six Million Tourists Every Year

Qatar is on a promising path to reach its goal of attracting six million visitors each year by 2030, according to a top official.

Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, stated that the country is making significant strides in developing its tourism sector and positioning itself as a unique travel destination.

In 2022, during the FIFA World Cup, Qatar welcomed approximately 2.4 million visitors. The following year saw a remarkable increase, with visitor numbers surpassing four million.

As of the first eight months of 2024, around 3.5 million visitors have already been recorded.

Al Mawlawi emphasized that upcoming events in the next few months are expected to draw even more visitors, both regionally and internationally.

He expressed confidence that 2024 will see an increase in visitor numbers compared to 2023, helping Qatar inch closer to its target.

Qatar boasts a wide array of tourist attractions, supported by robust infrastructure and leadership initiatives aimed at enhancing the tourism sector.

The recent launch of the Third National Development Strategy for 2024-2030 underscores Qatar’s commitment to tourism as a key component of its economic diversification strategy, essential for sustainable growth.
