Starting Sunday, September 1, those who have violated the country’s visa regulations have a two-month window to rectify their status without incurring fines, travel bans, or exit fees.
To facilitate this process, the UAE government is streamlining the issuance, renewal, and cancellation of work permits. In line with efforts to enhance societal safety, individuals in violation can also lodge complaints regarding work abandonment until Thursday, October 31.

MoHRE is offering the following services during the amnesty:
- Work Permit Issuance
- Work Permit Renewal
- Work Permit Cancellation
- Filing Complaints for Absconding from Work
These services are available to anyone eligible for the status settlement grace period, including those with expired work or residency permits, as well as individuals with pending work abandonment complaints, whether employed by an establishment or as domestic workers.
Individuals looking to regularize their status can do so through the MoHRE website, the MOHRE mobile app, or at business and domestic workers’ service centers.

Those who find themselves in violation of visa regulations are encouraged to take advantage of this grace period to resolve their status issues.
Moreover, the UAE visa amnesty allows individuals to leave the country without facing legal or financial consequences if they choose to do so. To travel home, a departure permit is required through the appropriate channels, granting a 14-day window for travel.
During this grace period, both establishments and domestic workers can apply for exemptions from administrative fines related to the failure to provide employment contracts or renew work permits.
